When incoming Australian prime minister Malcolm Turnbull opted to stay in his point piper mansion rather than move in to Kirribilli House, it hit the headlines in a big way.

We felt this was the perfect opportunity for Stayz, Australia's biggest holiday house rental site. Within hours we had created a speculative listing for the PM's official residence and had tweeted him to consider opening his (spare) doors.

The campaign was an instant hit, being carried by every major news outlet in the country as well as in the UK, China and India. In the first week it appeared in nearly 80 news articles across print, online, radio, social and TV, including a discussion segment on Channel 10's prime time panel show The Project.

The best bit? It cost as much as a Stayz listing and a Tweet.
